Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 - B Day classes who have not taken the SRI will probably be taking it today. The question which I want you to answer for the after-SRI assignment is: "WHEN should you have let Mrs. Bowe know if you are unable to purchase the three novels which you will need prior to the start of MP 2?"
Once you are finished, you should read "Only Daughter" by Sandra Cisneros and answer the reading guide questions. The essay is on page 814-819 in the textbook. You could access it online - see the "Start Here!" link for online textbook information.
Sept. 28 and 29 - I'm still out. I'll be back next week. Keep doing the assignments or life will become very very busy for you when I return. Today you should be taking a quiz on the Outliers chapter 2. Then you'll be reading "Dyaspora" by Joanne Hyppolite and answering reading guide questions. The quiz is a grade and the reading notes will be graded. They are not group work nor are they partner work so student work which shows evidence of being "shared" or "copied" will receive a failing grade.
Sept. 24 and 25 - I'm still out. You still work. Read the rest of the Outliers chapter and answer the questions. Be ready for an assessment on the reading and questions on Monday. Work on your drafts of the unit project. If the alphabet part confuses, just think of it this way - the alphabet is just how you will order the entries. Write about whatever you want and use the elements we learned about in this lesson. Trying to do is better than not doing anything.
Sept. 23 (A-Day) I will be out. See all that information for Sept 22 (the B-Day info). That's what you'll be doing. If you have poetry responses to resubmit, you can hold them until Friday. |
Sept. 22 (B-Day) - I am out. You had better have been good for my substitute or things will not go well for you upon my return. Remember the theme of "If"? You should have completed the song analysis handout and submitted it. This will be the draft of that component for the unit project. You should have read sections 1-3 of the Outliers excerpt and completed the questions for that part. You should also have kept your poem responses with you until Thursday. See the lesson resources for copies of the song analysis handout and the Outliers materials.
We will take the SRI on Thursday.
Sept 21 - When do you have to tell Mrs. Bowe whether or not you'll be able to purchase the three novels for the honors class? (answer on your post-SRI worksheet)
|
|
Sept. 16 and 17 - rough draft of poem response is due today. We reviewed the thesis and worked on revising our rough drafts. The UNIT 1 PROJECT was assigned today. The first 7 entries in draft form are due FRIDAY, Sept. 25 (A-Day) MONDAY, Sept 28 (B-DAY) - (these are tentative dates which I might push back). Unit Project directions are on the lesson resource page.
